Witnesses sought after report of assault in Plymouth

We are investigating a report of a serious assault in Plymouth and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

It was reported that a woman sustained facial injuries when she was assaulted by a man in the street between 10pm on Saturday 8 August and 1am on Sunday 9 August on Catherine Street, Plymouth, near the Baptist Church.

Officers are asking any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

They would particularly like to speak to one witness described as a white woman with blonde curly hair, who was wearing black heels and a pink long sleeved dress who assisted the victim in going to the Safe Bus.

It has also been reported a group of men came to the victim’s aid so officers would like to hear from any of these as well.

A 43-year-old man of no fixed abode in Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
